Overview
Malta's sister island, Gozo, is thought to be the legendary Calypso's isle which features in Homer's Odyssey but you don't need to make an epic journey of your own to visit this spectacular mix of rugged landscape, stunning coastline and succession of historical sites.
Instead, after a short twenty-minute ferry crossing from Valletta, you will reach Mgarr harbor, which immediately sets the pace of the island's unique atmosphere and blissful tranquility.
Your friendly guide will lead you around the Megalithic temples of Ggantija - the oldest free-standing monuments in the world which even pre-date the Pyramids of Egypt, followed by visits to the medieval citadel of Victoria, the fjord-like inlet at Xlendi and the Azure Window at Dwejra.
After the scenery overdose, you will also learn about the island's thriving craft industries and have the chance to pick up some handmade lace or knitted garment souvenirs in order to remember this incredible place.
